Admission Ticket FreeThe Monastery of St. Nicholas of Badova / Nikolaus Kofina was founded c. 1400 in a rock cave at Badovas. Centuries ago, reaching this secluded skete was anything but easy. Monks entered through a cave below the cliff, using a wooden ladder to climb to the higher chambers carved into the rock. Nearby, on the same dramatic cliff face, you can still see the hermit caves of Agios Grigorios, or St. Gregory. The Badovas hermit caves are especially significant because they were home to some of the last hermit monks of Meteora, who lived here more than two centuries ago in complete isolation and devotion. Even today, traces of that extraordinary way of life remain. Old wooden ladders, platforms and scaffolding can still be seen clinging high to the cliffs of Pyxari, offering a powerful glimpse into the physical endurance and spiritual commitment of Meteora’s monks. Appropriate clothing for everyone is required to enter the monasteries. For ladies skirts by the knee or longer are required. No pants for ladies, no shorts, no sleeveless shirt. For men sleeveless clothing and shorts over the knee are prohibited.
Please make sure you have cash for the monasteries 5 euro each entrance. There is no ATM machine in the area.

The tour was good and structured with the sites and understanding the history of the monasteries. The view at the Sunset rock was incredible!
We had a nice tour despite some slight rain which brought the fog which obscured some of the sights. What made the trip more meaningful was the in-depth knowledge and interesting stories about the area and each monasteries that our guide Aphrodites imparted - it gave context to the beautiful sights that we saw. Sterios our cheerful and patient driver also deserves a special mention. Highly recommended day tour!
The visit itself was fantastic. The monasteries and sweeo8ng landscape views were wonderful. The English speaking tour guide Vasos was helpful. The only advice is to avoid buying dinner on the return trip. The canteen charges a rip off price of. 29 euros for a plate of kebab, and fries and some pathetic salad. Better off buying the bread rolls.
this was an amazing experience! we got to see one of the most beautiful sights of greece and clement was a great guide and so full of energy the bus ride was very comfortable but very long (4 hours there and back), and the buffet lunch was nice i only didnt like the restaurant in between for dinner because they charged us 22 euros for a greek salad and some kebab :(
Fantastic views but it’s a long drive there and back from Athens.
