Located at the entrance to the Iron Gate, the longest gorge in Europe. It was built by the Hungarians, called Galambocz, on the same site as the Roman Castrum Columbarum. Golubac was captured by the Turks in 1391. and changed ownership several times before being finally reclaimed by the Serbs in 1867. On this site you will have opportunity to take some great photos of the stunning fortress, explore gallery in Visitor center and walk by the Danube river with beautiful view to Iron Gate. In the summer season (1st of June - 1st of October), after visit Golubac fortress, enjoy 1h speed boat ride on the Danube river and see the fortress as well from the water.Golubac
