Elafonissi Beach
4 hoursAdmission Ticket Not IncludedElafonissi Beach with its famous Pink Coral Sand is considered to be one of the most famous beaches all over the world as per the most famous travel guides. Elafonissi "breaks" in two parts by water giving the impression of being a separate island. Elafonissi is a “Natura 2000” protected area. The island is full of dunes with sand lilies and junipers (like-cedar trees). The endangered turtles Caretta-Caretta and several rare animals nest on the island and it is strictly forbidden to remove any plants, animals from the area. Exotic beach with white sand and turquoise waters, reminding of the Caribbean, are formed on either sides of the peninsula. The sand is pinkish in many places, taking its color from thousands of broken shells. Near the “breaking" point of the peninsula, the water does not exceed 1m, creating a small lagoon, ideal for children. The eastern side of the beach, in front of the lagoon, is well organized and has the most people.Elos

Ingrid from Kyriakakis Tour was very friendly and welcomed us. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we also joined her company’s tour the day before to the Samaria Gorge. She explained the sights and gave us brief history of the region and places we visited. We were given about 4 hours to enjoy the beach although 30 minutes were spent to walk to and fro and purchasing snacks/lunch from the supermarket. The beach had very clear shallow waters but is abit crowded. The lunch stop at the end of the tour served delicious food.
