Experience the Ayutthaya Kingdom, which flourished from the 14th to the 18th
centuries, through its ruins. Visit the two major temples, Wat Phra Si Sanphet
and Wat Mahathat, as well as the historic Wat Yai Chai Mongkol. This highly
popular tour also includes an elephant ride. Seeing the ruins while riding on
the back of an elephant is a unique Ayutthaya experience. As this tour departs
in the afternoon, it's also recommended for those who want to relax in the
morning.

— Spot Introduction —

  • Wat Phra Si Sanphet [World Heritage Site]

Built in 1948, it was a temple of great importance to the Bangkok dynasty,
much like the Emerald Temple. Its symbolic three stupas, lined up east and
west, are said to house the remains of three kings and princes of the
Ayutthaya Kingdom. However, due to the Burmese invasion in the 18th century,
only the ruins of the stupas and pillars remain today.

  • Wat Mahathat

Built in 1374 by the third king, it was reduced to ruins by the Burmese
invasion. Now, it is a temple famous for its Buddha head encased in wood, and
is a representative historical site of the 14th century.

  • Wat Yai Chai Mongkon was built to commemorate the victory against the Burmese army. The striking stupa is part of this large temple complex, standing 72 meters tall. Visitors can climb the stupa and enjoy the surrounding views. The reclining Buddha statue and the Buddha statues in the corridors are also impressive, making it an iconic temple of Ayutthaya.
