The mahal was designed by Lal Chand Usta, an architect in the court of the Maharaja. Designed in the Rajput architectural style and is made of pink sandstone. The purpose behind the construction of Hawa Mahal was to provide a grandstand view for the royal ladies of the court to observe everyday life and processions on the bustling streets below without being seen themselves, as they followed strict purdah (veiling) customs. The design of Hawa Mahal is inspired by the crown of Lord Krishna. The windows not only allowed a gentle flow of air through the palace, keeping it cool during the scorching summer months, the interior of the Hawa Mahal is relatively simple, with a series of chambers and passages that were once used by the royal family.Panna Meena ka Kund
