Installing your eSIM means adding it to your phone.
❗️Before you start:
Connect your device to a strong and stable Wi-Fi network. We do not recommend using mobile data.
Keep your device switched on during the installation.
Stay on the installation page until the installation is complete. Do not close or leave the page.
The installation may take up to 10 minutes. Please wait until it is fully completed.
The installation steps below do not apply to Global eSIMs. If you purchased a Global eSIM, please refer to our Global eSIM article for further guidance.
Your installation method depends on the option you selected when you purchased your eSIM:
If at checkout you selected "For myself": Install your eSIM using the Pelago App
If at checkout you selected "For myself, or different device": Install your eSIM using the QR code in the confirmation voucher
Installation Steps if you selected “For myself”
You only need to install your Pelago eSIM once
Your Pelago eSIM is a Universal eSIM, which stays on your device for future trips. Do not delete it after your trip.
If you purchase another Pelago eSIM in the future, the new plan will be added to your existing Pelago eSIM.
To install:
Open the Pelago App and log in using the account you used for the purchase
On the 'Explore' page of the Pelago App, you will find your eSIM
Tap "Install eSIM" on the Pelago App. Your device will automatically open the device settings page. Follow the instructions on your screen to install the eSIM.

📝 Note on 1-click installation:
The 1-click installation will not work if the Pelago eSIM is already installed on your phone.
If you see an error message, you do not need to scan the QR code or use the 1-click installation link
Installation Steps if you selected “For myself, or different device”
Install using the QR code found in your confirmation voucher
To install:
Open your device's QR Code reader (or camera), or go to Device Settings > Add eSIM
Scan the QR code in your Pelago confirmation email
Your device will automatically open the device settings page. Follow the instructions on your screen to install the eSIM.
What happens after I install the eSIM?
After you tap "Install eSIM" or scan the QR code, your device will guide you through the installation.
The screens may look slightly different depending on your phone. Follow the instructions shown on your screen.
You may be asked to:
Name your eSIM: Rename the eSIM to "Pelago eSIM" so you can easily find it later.
Choose your Default Line for calls and messages: Keep your Primary line selected
Choose your line for iMessage and FaceTime (iOS only): Keep your Primary line selected
Choose your line for Mobile Data: Select "Pelago eSIM" and turn off "Mobile Data Switching"
Important: Keep your phone switched on and stay on the installation screen until the eSIM installation is complete.
How do I know if my installation is successful?
During installation, your device may show that the eSIM is "Activating". Once the installation is complete, the Pelago eSIM will appear in the list of SIMs in your device settings.
If you renamed it during installation, look for "Pelago eSIM" in your SIM list.
