This is one of the few left in the island of Java with giant ferns and big trees. Pause at the Park Ranger’s post before hiking further up to the slope of the crater. About one hour and half to two hours is needed to ascend the rim of the crater along a shady track with amazing views. Take a rest on the edge of the crater at 2883-meter altitude. The sulfuric lake reflects eerie color over the surrounding walls to give an apocalypse like impression.
