Casa Grande was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on Oct 15, 1966. Father Kino was the first European to view the Hohokam complex in November 1694 & named it Casa Grande.Picacho Peak State Park

You can spend a short time inside based on current restrictions. The Mission was created to serve the needs of the local community, the village of Wa:k (San Xavier District) on the Tohono O'odham reservation, as it still does today. The Tumacácori mission complex was originally protected as Tumacácori National Monument, in 1908 by President Teddy Roosevelt. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1966. You can spend time walking the grounds and exploring inside the walls of the mission.
