Known as a sacred place for purification, it features a temple used for cleansing rituals and a statue of Lord Shiva standing at the meeting point of two rivers. The dam plays a crucial role in supporting traditional Balinese agriculture through the Subak system. The river that feeds this dam is locally known as Tukad Pejeng. At the dam, the water flow is divided into two main streams: one towards Tukad Pakerisan and the other continuing as Tukad Pejeng.
