—Attraction Introduction—
- Yufuin (also known as Yufuin)
Yufuin (also known as Yufuin) is voted the number one travel destination by
Japanese girls. Surrounded by mountains, Yufuin exudes tranquility and
gentleness, allowing for complete relaxation. Furthermore, Yufuin's many
delicious dessert shops are a major draw for women. Enjoying the beautiful
scenery while satisfying your taste buds creates a blissful experience. There
are also numerous cafes where you can find your favorite unique spot to relax
and enjoy a cup of coffee. Yunotsubo Street, located at the foot of Mount
Yufu, is lined with souvenir shops selling Oita specialties like yuzu and
pepper, as well as restaurants serving local delicacies such as fried chicken
and tempura, attracting a constant stream of tourists. In addition, the Oita
River, just a street away, is a recommended walking area where you can enjoy
the scenery of all four seasons and experience the unique rustic atmosphere of
Yufuin, including its pastoral landscape.
- Jinlin Lake
Lake Kinrin, the most famous lake in Yufuin, was originally named "Gakumoto
Pond" or "Gakushita Pond." Hot springs emerge from the western side of the
lake, while clear water flows from the eastern side. The temperature
difference between the hot springs and the clear water causes mist to rise
from the surface as the air temperature drops, creating a beautiful,
dreamlike, and enchanting scene. It's truly an incredible lake. Beside Lake
Kinrin stands the Tenzu Shrine, its torii gate seemingly floating on the
water. The mist adds to its mystique, creating a fantastical space. A stroll
along the shores of Lake Kinrin is a must when visiting Yufuin to fully
experience its charm.
- African Safari in Kyushu
Ride the animal-shaped jungle bus inside the zoo, where you can feed lions,
elephants, and black bears, and see giraffes, rhinos, zebras, and other
animals that live on the grasslands. This is a rare and unique experience in
Japan, and definitely a must-visit family trip in Kyushu! In the "Small Animal
Interaction Area," you can get up close to cats and dogs, ride miniature
horses, and feed kangaroos and squirrel monkeys—a truly therapeutic experience
for both adults and children. (Note: This does not include zoo admission or
the jungle bus fare.)
*In case of severe winter weather, Kyushu Natural Zoo will be temporarily closed (and closure information cannot be obtained in advance). If you are unable to visit the zoo on the day of your visit, the Oita Uminome Aquarium will be automatically substituted. We cannot provide advance notice of itinerary changes, and the order of attractions may be adjusted based on road conditions on the day. Thank you for your understanding. Admission fees for Uminome Aquarium are as follows: Adults (16 years and older): 2600 yen; Children (7-15 years): 1300 yen; Preschool children (4-6 years): 850 yen. ※Children aged 3 and under enter free.
- Sea Hell
"Beppu Hell - Sea Hell" Beppu is the hot spring area with the highest water
output in Japan. A trip to Beppu is incomplete without experiencing the "Hell
Tour" of Beppu. The mysterious porcelain blue pool water, which looks like
cool seawater, is actually a 98-degree hot spring. The fantastical spectacle
of the gushing water is breathtaking and is one of the must-see attractions
for tourists.
- Stove Hell
Beppu is home to numerous hot springs, the most famous of which are the Eight
Great Hells of Beppu: Umi Jigoku (Sea Hell), Oniishi Bozu Jigoku (Demon Stone
Monk Hell), Yama Jigoku (Mountain Hell), Kamado Jigoku (Cooking Pot Hell),
Oniyama Jigoku (Demon Mountain Hell), Shiraike Jigoku (White Pond Hell),
Chiike Jigoku (Blood Pond Hell), and Tatsumaki Jigoku (Tornado Hell). Kamado
Jigoku is one of these. Legend has it that long ago, during the spring and
autumn festivals of the Kamado Hachiman Shrine, offerings were made using the
heat of the hellish water, hence the name "Kamado Jigoku" (Cooking Pot Hell).
The powerful steam and gushing hot spring water bring the temperature of the
hellish spring to a high of 90 degrees Celsius.
