Although not well known, Palca Canyon is perhaps one of the best hiking destinations in Bolivia. The high desert environment is home to many rare plant and animal species including puma, pampas cat, Andean fox, northern Andean deer, viscacha, Andean condor and the spectacular red tailed hummingbird to name a few.
