The Qiao Family Compound is the former residence of Qiao Zhiyong, the third-generation commercial tycoon of the Qiao family in Shanxi Province. He attained his fortune by running banks, pawnshops and teahouses. The entire courtyard consists 6 main courtyards and 20 smaller ones, with 313 rooms altogether. Follow your tour guide to go up to the pavilion where you can enjoy a bird's-eye view of the entire complex. Then, stroll around the halls and courtyards with your tour guide to enjoy fine Qing Dynasty style architecture and amazing brick carvings. The carvings were based on figures, allusions, flowers and plants, birds, beast, chess, and painting and calligraphy. After your tour finished you will be transferred to your hotel in Pingyao.
