Historically, the Tigua people were famous for painting highly decorative masks and drums, painting on flat surfaces is somewhat of a modern development. Tigua painting tends to have vibrant colours and simplistic themes. The themes in most paintings are scenes of pastoral life, religious ceremonies, and festivals.
