Óbidos boasts a beautiful historic center, surrounded by classic crenellated walls, consisting of a maze of streets, the majestic castle, the medieval walls that surround the historic center, the colossal Visigothic church of Santa Maria; Rua Direita; and the nearly colonial-looking St. James Church. It still deserves to visit places like the Village Gate, the Aqueduct, financed by Queen Catherine of Austria in the 16th century; the Interior Design Center, the Casa da Música auditorium, the Pilar Camoneano monument, built in honor of Camões and designed by Raul Lino in 1932; the Chapel of St. Martin, the Church of St. Peter, the Church of Mercy, the Abilio de Mattos e Silva Museum, sheltered at Casa do Arco (former prison); the Municipal Museum, the Pelourinho, the Casa do Pelourinho Gallery, the Novaogiva Gallery, the old market of Alpende, the Hunting Park, the Chapel of Our Lady of Carmen, the Door of Our Sonhora de Garcia or the Church of Our Lady of Monserrate .
