Vaud region produces the quarter quantity of all the Swiss wine, which symbolizes the culture of this region and essential part of the everyday life. Lavaux extends over Lausanne to Montreux, reaching an altitude of 500 meters above sea level and involving several tiny villages and the City of Vevey. Besides, in 2007 Lavaux has been acknowledged as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The region is best known for the production of fresh and fruity dry white wine from the Chasselas grapes.
