Highlights

The Dallol Depression, also called Danakil Depression, is a desert with some areas that are more than 100 meters (328 feet) below sea level. This is special because it is one of the lowest points on earth not covered by water. There are hot yellow sulfur fields among the sparkling white salt beds. Heat isn’t the only thing people feel in the Dallol Depression. Alarming earth tremors are frequently felt. There are also several active volcanoes and stunning desert landscape.

Arrive to Addis Ababa

Which includes; National Museum, the home of the famous complete hominid fossil remains of Lucy dates 3.2 million years back, Mount Entoto, panoramic view point at the highest peak in Addis with an altitude of 3200 meter above sea level, Trinity Cathedral, a beautiful church with a baroque style of European architecture unique to both Ethiopia and Africa, Ethnographic Museum and Merkato (the largest open-air market in Africa).

Fly to Mekele and Drive to Dallol

    After breakfast, transfer in to airport to fly to Mekele. Up on arrival meet our guides and driver meets you at airport, then drive to Hamedela and on the way visit the Afar village over the escarpment of the Great Rift Valley system to the western highland.

Drive to Lake Assle

    In the morning drive to Lake Asele and visit the thousands of camel caravans and the rock salt mining. Afternoon, drive further to Dallol Cobber Sink; the lowest spot on earth’s surface not covered by water (-116 below sea level) enjoy the spectacular view and small hill, which is colorful by hot spring in several places. After visit drive back to Hamdela and overnight camping.
