    Wilpattu National Park is a wildlife lover’s paradise, renowned for its unique network of natural lakes, called “villus,” that attract a diverse array of animals. The park is especially famous for its elusive leopards, making it one of the best places in Sri Lanka to spot these majestic big cats. As you venture deeper into the park, you may encounter large herds of elephants and shy sloth bears wandering through the forest. The park is also home to a variety of other wildlife, including spotted deer, water buffaloes, and mugger crocodiles lurking near the water’s edge. Birdwatchers will be delighted by the rich avifauna, with sightings of painted storks, peacocks, and a range of water birds around the villus. The mix of open grasslands, dense forests, and tranquil lakes makes every safari in Wilpattu an unforgettable wildlife experience.
