~ Introduction to the Siddham Script Exhibition ~
Siddham script (known as "Bonji" in Japan) originated in ancient India and was introduced to Japan alongside Buddhism. Among these, the "Siddham alphabet" has been deeply revered within Esoteric Buddhism since the Heian period, passed down through generations as sacred letters of prayer.
This exhibition introduces the history, beauty, and spirituality of the Siddham script through the works of Siddham Acharya (master), Rev. Yoshitaka Kodama. We invite you to experience the world of Buddha dwelling within each single character at Ninna-ji's very first Siddham Script Exhibition.
A "Siddham Script Stamp Rally" across the temple grounds will also be held concurrently.
