About 140 km from Muscat, past the Al Hajar Mountains, you will reach the city of Nizwa, which was once the capital of Oman and a renowned center for trade and Islamic education. Attractions such as Nizwa Souk, Nizwa Fort, Jabreen Castle are some of the important stops on your tour that have both historical and architectural significance. You will visit the cattle market (only if you do the tour on a Friday). The markets here in general will take you years back because the local community has been selling their animals and herbs, fresh omani halwa and traditional weapons for hundreds of years.
