Highlights
The bizarre rocky landscape, which opens in the upper Elbe valley, from Pirna, has always been the preferred excursion destination for the Dresdeners and their guests. Swiss painters discovered the sandstones as a unique landscape setting just over two hundred years ago. In the middle of the romantic rocky world of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains, there are views up to the heights of the Ore Mountains and the Lusatian Mountains. During the fortress tour you will discover the historic casemates, the deep sandstone fountain and the barracks, with their famous prison. TIP: Conquer the fortress too culinary.
