Nyerere Park boasts of the largest concentration of wild animals and a rich collection of wildlife that is abundant and diverse. The fact that this park is new and largely less frequented by tourists means that the animals here tend to be less exposed to humans.
Good numbers of Big Cats such as Lion, Leopard, Cheetah are to be found here along with other large Game animals such as Elephant, Rhino, Buffalo, Giraffe, Eland, Zebra, Wildebeest and other wildlife.

Zanzibar to Nyerere national Park for Game Drive

10 hoursAdmission Ticket FreeYou'll be picked up will be from the hotel at 04:00 am or 05:00 am (based on your hotel location) to the airport then fly to Nyerere National Park (Selous Game Reserve). You’ll fly at 06:00 am. On arrival, check-in and go for a game drive inside Nyerere National Park for the most tremendous and memorable safari. Great animal sightings include all the favorites like lion, elephant, giraffe, buffalo, and zebra. You will also see all the other major species, including the now rare African wild dog, and a large variety of birds. Appreciate the wonderful scenery with varied topography including wetlands, dry grassland, light acacia forest and higher ground with vast views of far-off mountains. Walking, Boat then Fly Back to Zanzibar

10 hoursAdmission Ticket FreeEarly in the Morning after breakfast at 06:30 AM from the camp and start the sunrise bush walking. Walking safaris are a fantastic way to get close to nature and learn more about the smaller species and the bush itself. It's an unforgettable experience to walk within such a vast and untamed area of natural reserve. The walks take about 2-3 hours long, return at 08:30 AM for breakfast! After breakfast at 10:00 AM, advance to the Great Rufiji River for a wonderful boat tour for 2.5 hours so you’ll stop at 12:30 PM. It's an ideal trip and you’ll surely enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Rufiji River with many hippos, crocodiles, and beautiful birdlife. Go for lunch at 01:00 PM and then route to Mtemere Airstrip to catch a flight at 04:00 PM back to Zanzibar. End of tour.Mtemere Airstrip
Admission Ticket FreeMtemere Airstrip is the most frequently used airstrip serving guests visiting both Selous Game Reserve and Nyerere National Park in Southern Tanzania. The geographical coordinates of this airstrip are: 07 45 01S 038 12 47E. Flights to Nyerere being readily available, a flying package safari is possible to book for most Camps and Lodges.
