Discover Banff's mountain town on a 5 km return walk from 12 Banff Avenue. This self-guided smartphone tour features 30 narrated points of interest, including the Banff Administration Building, Cascades of Time Gardens, Central Park, the Whyte Museum and Buffalo Nations Museum. Allow about 90 minutes to 3 hours, depending on your pace.
GPS-triggered audio plays as you reach each story, and a live route map shows your location and the next stop. Download the tour on Wi-Fi for offline use, then pause, detour and resume whenever you like. Optional trivia adds another way to explore.
The walk is mainly outdoors, with exterior views of heritage buildings and museums. There is no in-person guide, and attraction admission or interior access is separate. Gardens and museum hours can vary by season, but the outdoor route remains enjoyable when buildings are closed. Terraced garden paths may have steps or uneven surfaces, and winter conditions can affect the walk.
