I really enjoyed the cocktail Masterclass with Thanesh. He has an incredible knowledge of the science behind what makes a cocktail work, and explained how to balance the ingredients for the ultimate drinking experience. I was the only participant in the class so received one on one instruction and also got to taste 3 different cocktails, all of which were delicious and were worth more in value than the cost of the class. Do it, you won’t regret it!

It was a fun class and the trainer gave a very interactive lesson on 3 drinks that costs more than the cost of the class. Love the place and our daughter made her first cocktail ‘jungle bird’ which is the state drink of Penang. Can’t asked for more!

Very interactive and engaging session with Shen and his team. Backdoor Bodega was recently ranked #52 in Asia's 50best bars 2024! They have really unique drinks, all meticulously crafted and concocted to please our taste buds and perfumed our nose. All 3 drinks we learned were tasty, special shoutout to Junglebird, and we even stayed behind after class to order 2 more drinks so unique, we couldn't resist: Spellbinder (aged-soy based, yes) and Mango Sticky Rice. Highly recommended activity, or even just drop by and taste their magic behind the door :)

Decided to book a cocktail masterclass for myself along with my folks to put a spin on the activities we were doing in Penang and I must say, this was the best decision. Shen & Thanesh guided us patiently on how to craft each cocktail (we had a total of 3 & Jungle Bird was my fave). Was super entertained looking at my dad shaking his own cocktail. This was definitely an experience filled with a lot of fun, laughter and alcohol. HIGHLY RECOMMEND it to anyone that's visiting Penang. Backdoor Bodega is also a bar hidden behind a regular apparel store, so do be mindful of this when you're visiting.

Super interesting and once-in-a-lifetime fun experience with Thanesh! Would highly recommend to visit if you want a deeper knowledge of what you are drinking and the flavor profile of your choice and palette.

Honestly I like a cocktail and always seek a least one great bar when I travel and to date this was the best bar experience I have had. The class was amazingly informative and entertaining. Had the most outstanding daiquiri and old fashioned I’ve ever tasted. Not to mention a cocktail that was a cheeseburger and another that was a Tom yum soup, I know it sounds weird but sensational. Do yourself a favour and go to Backdoor Bodega.
