Highlights

Your route takes you through Kent, known as the Garden of England and on to Canterbury with its fine Norman Cathedral, also the scene of the murder of Thomas Becket before a visit to Dover with its white cliffs and castle.
In the afternoon you will visit Leeds Castle, arguably the most beautiful castle in England. It was built in the middle of a lake and was home to the medieval Queens of England.
Next visit either Chartwell, home of Sir Winston Churchill for over 49 years or Knole, one of the largest private houses in England, with it’s famous collection of 17th and 18th century furniture.

1 hoursAdmission Ticket Not IncludedChartwell was Churchill’s house in Kent and is now preserved as an historic property by the National Trust. It is consistently one of their most visited sites. The house was purchased by Winston Churchill in 1922 and he used it as his main base during the ‘20s and ‘30s for writing, painting and entertaining. It was a significant drain on his finances until it was purchased for the Trust by a group of Churchill’s friends and admirers in 1946, on condition that Churchill and his wife could continue to live there for their lifetimes. Lady Churchill presented it to the Trust immediately after Churchill’s death in 1965.
