Charles Goore is perhaps one of the most infamous who was known for his ruthlessness when transporting slaves across the Atlantic. Learn also about George Drinkwater - a slave owner who lived at number 65 Rodney Street. Sir William Brown made his fortune as a cotton trader and eventually went into merchant banking, founding Brown and Shipley, a company that still exists today. Brown also funded the construction of the magnificent Library to the tune of £40,000 (£4 Million in today's money) William Huskisson is the most famous resident in the cemetery and the first railway casualty.
