This square brings locals and tourists to shop, sightsee or just watch the city go by. This place has been at the centre of the city since the 12th. century and is named after a Marian column that was raised here in the 17th. century. It celebrates the withdrawal of Swedish troops from Munich during the Thirty Years' War.
