Highlights
Katsuo-ji Temple has long been revered as a temple of good fortune and victory.
With a history of over 1,300 years, powerful figures throughout the ages, including the Minamoto and Ashikaga clans, visited this temple to pray. Even today, people from around the world come to pray for “victory” in various aspects of life such as health, business, exams, sports, and love.
The “Kachi Daruma” dolls lined up on the offering shelves throughout the temple grounds were dedicated by visitors who first made their wishes and later returned them in gratitude after achieving their goals. At Katsuo-ji Temple, the meaning of “victory” has long been understood not as defeating others, but as “overcoming oneself.” By making a wish with a Kachi Daruma, reflecting on oneself, and overcoming one’s weaknesses, one’s wish is believed to come true.
Located in the mountains of Meiji no Mori Minoo Quasi-National Park in northern Osaka, Katsuo-ji Temple is about 30 minutes from central Osaka. Despite its proximity to the city, the temple’s vast 80,000-tsubo grounds are surrounded by lush nature that makes visitors forget the bustle of urban life. Seasonal scenery welcomes visitors throughout the year—cherry blossoms in spring, hydrangeas in summer, and vibrant autumn leaves—offering a peaceful and relaxing experience.

Must go to this temple to enjoy the views and wonderful scenery
Most of the cherry trees in Osaka have already blossomed but not here, so it's nicer if you come later in the season. Otherwise it's a really nice place and there's the stamp activity that you could do.
