The drive to Darbargadh, situated at a distance of 115 miles from Ahmedabad, takes around 4 hours. Now a heritage hotel, the palace belongs to the direct descendants of the Chalukyas whose empire spread through much of Gujarat and Central India in the 12th century. The huge gateways, pillars, arches, gardens and terraces of the palace are a sight to behold. Check in to the hotel on your arrival and relax until dinner time. The village is home to the tribal communities of Garasias, Bhils and Rabaris. Take in the simple beauty of the traditional village life as you walk around the mud houses. You will also visit a tribal shrine to see the thousands of terracotta horses that stand in rows as offerings to the local Goddess. Visit the homes of the potters who make these beautiful horses.
