Wieliczka Salt Mine is located just 15 km (+-10 miles) from the city center of Kraków and is certainly one of the most often visited places in Poland. This is the oldest and the only salt mine in the world, which is operating with no interruption since the Middle Ages.To distinguish this wonderful place UNESCO added Wieliczka to its First World List of Cultural and Natural Heritage in 1978 together with only 11 different places on Earth. Here you can find lots of underground caves, chambers and even a lakes. The total length of the mine is about 300km (186 miles) on 9 level, of which deepest reaches 327m (357 yards).
