To save precious time, your professional Macedonian guide will meet the group right at the entrance of Skopje and take you straight into the breathtaking Matka Canyon. Here, towering limestone cliffs plunge into the metallic green waters of the Treska River. You'll enjoy a stunning walk along the cliffside path to the rustic docks, where you will board a small boat and cruise deep into the narrow gorge to visit Vrelo Cave, a mesmerizing natural wonder filled with massive stalactites and home to a deep, mysterious underwater lake. Your guide will lead you across the iconic Stone Bridge—a 15th-century landmark that links the old and new worlds of Skopje. On one side, you’ll marvel at Macedonia Square, dedicated to Alexander the Great and his family. On the other side, you’ll step straight back in time as you wander the cobblestone alleys of the Old Bazaar, the second-largest Ottoman-era market in the Balkans. This is the perfect window to sample authentic local cevapi (grilled minced meat) or sip traditional Turkish tea for a quick, delicious lunch.
