Ama-Iwato Shrine is a shrine associated with the legend of Amaterasu Omikami.
According to legend, Amaterasu Omikami, the goddess symbolizing the sun, was
angered by her brother's actions and hid in a cave, refusing to emerge,
plunging the world into darkness. Eight million gods gathered in the Ama-an-
hara (Mount Ten'an River) to devise a solution, but to no avail, until a
