Itinerary

Depart from Durban at 6am and head off to Hluhluwe Imfolozi Game Reserve which is a 3 hour drive from Durban

  • Hluhluwe - iMfolozi Park Wilderness Area

    Depart from Durban and head off to Hluhluwe Imfolozi Game Reserve. On arrival in Hluhluwe Imfolozi Game Reserve, go into a 4x4 Game Drive vehicle to begin a game drive around this huge game reserve. Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Reserve, one of the oldest and most popular game reserves in South Africa. Located in the province of KwaZulu-Natal, this reserve is known for its diverse landscapes and abundant wildlife. Your 4x4 tour of Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Reserve will take you through some of the most stunning scenery in Africa. As you explore the reserve, you'll have the opportunity to see the famous Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo), as well as numerous other species of mammals, birds, and reptiles. In late afternoon, after lunch, we travel to St Lucia where we spend the night.

    We arrive in St Lucia which is half an hour from Hluhluwe Imfolozi Game Reserve. This is where we spend the night. St Lucia, right in the middle of Isimangaliso Wetlands Park is the most visited town in South Africa for people wanting to see hippos. It is a world heritage site, from wetlands to Savannah grasslands to the abundance of wildlife that roam the area. It is one of the most beautiful parts of South Africa.

After breakfast we go for a Croc & Hippo Boat Cruise at the St Lucia Estuary followed by a game drive

    At St Lucia Estuary we go for a Hippo & Croc Boat Cruise which runs for 2 hours. This is an exciting excursion. Discover, Witness, and Observe Hippos, Nile Crocodiles, and Hundreds of bird species on the Hippo & Croc Boat Cruise while in St Lucia. This 2 hour Boat Cruise Safari gets you close up to the residents of the estuary. While on cruise with the experienced and knowledgeable rangers, you will gather some exciting information about the crocs and hippos. The rangers will undoubtedly answer every question that you might have and furnish you with some incredible facts and information on the area.

  • iSimangaliso Wetland Park

    After the Hippo & Croc Boat Cruise we go for a self drive game drive in the Isimangaliso Wetlands Park Dukuduku Section. After the game drive, we depart in late afternoon to head back to Durban. We go in search of some of the big 5 such as elephants, rhino, buffalo. We also search for giraffe, impala, kudu, and many other animals. This is a beautiful game reserve with many drinking holes for the animals. We are likely to see many different animals here. Also there is a wide range of bird life. We also get to see some hippo at some of the water spots.
