Selous Game Reserve is the largest Game Reserves in Africa covers a total area of 54,600 km2 , located in the south of Tanzania. It was named after Englishman Sir Frederick Selous, a famous big game hunter and early conservationist, who died at Behobeho in his territory in 1917 while fighting against the Germans during First World War. The Selous Game Reserve was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982 due to the diversity of its wildlife and undisturbed nature.
Mikumi NP was established in1964 covering an area of 1070 square kilometers; it was later extended in 1975 to cover the current area of 3,230 square kilometers. Mikumi National Park is located to the North of the famous Selous Game Reserve. The park is the fifth largest National Park in Tanzania and the most accessible from Dar es Salaam throughout the year

Arrive for afternoon boat safari along the mighty Great Rufiji River. Boat safari brings you into close contact with hippo, crocodile and fantastic birdlife. Animals make their way to the river to drink and boat may approach elephant, waterbuck and other on the river banks to within a few meters. Game drive in Selous Game Reserve

9 hoursAdmission Ticket FreeWakeup early in the morning and have a cup of coffee or tea, then go out for wilderness walking safari with guidance of an armed ranger which will take two to two and a half hours. Walking safari will give you a particularly intimate feel for African wild. You will get the chance to touch the nature, see the different foot print and droppings of different wild animals and small creatures that you can’t see them during the game drive. After walking safari you will go back to the camp/ lodge for breakfast then go to the reserve for game drive until sunset.
