The main reason we booked this tour was for the convenience of return transport from Khan el Khalily market, as getting an Uber in Cairo can be a nightmare. Many drivers accept your trip but then message asking for €25 for what should be a short ride - around six times the actual Uber fare. The tour of the Saladin Citadel was good, with some fantastic views over Cairo, though it was a relatively brief stop since our main interest was the market. We arrived early, before the shops were open, and our guide kindly treated us to tea, which was a thoughtful touch. At the market, we expected some time to wander on our own, but the guide stayed with us throughout. This was helpful in avoiding pushy shopkeepers, though it did make us feel a little rushed - more our perception than anything negative about the guide, who was attentive and professional. Lunch by the Nile was enjoyable, though we were a bit surprised when the driver and guide sat at the same table with us. It would have been nicer to have some private time to relax and enjoy the setting. Overall, we still had a great time, with lots of positives and a few small things that could be improved for comfort.
