Barasu Island is a small island formed by the accumulation of white coral sand
(barasu). The waters around Barasu Island are known as the 'Sekisei Lagoon,' a
point where one of Japan's largest and most beautiful coral reefs spreads out,
and it is also designated as a national park. It is an uninhabited island
floating on the blue sea, consisting only of pure white sandy beaches and
emerald blue waters. The sea has high transparency and beautiful coral, making
it perfect for snorkeling.

Yubu Island, which can be reached from Iriomote Island by about a 15-minute
water buffalo cart ride, is part of the Yaeyama Islands. It is a small remote
island and also a botanical garden where a subtropical world spreads out.
