Among these sights are the breathtaking Karnak Temple constructed from the beginning of the Middle Kingdom to the Greco Roman, and the magnificent Temple of Luxor which was built by Amenhotep III in 18th Dynasty.

The architect Sennenmut designed the Temple of Hatshepsut, also known as the Temple of Deir el-Bahari. It was founded in honor of Hatshepsut, Egypt's only long-reigning female pharaoh. The Colossi of Memnon are two huge statues of Amenophis III that guarded his funerary temple in Luxor, on the Nile's west bank. The sculptures, which date back 3,400 years, depict a peaceful pharaoh staring at the Rising Sun with his hands on his knees. His mother, Queen Mutemwiya, and his wife, Queen Tiy, are sculpted in the lower section.
