Embark on a full-day exploration of the magnificent West MacDonnell Ranges, a
region known for its striking red rock formations and breathtaking outback
scenery. This immersive tour offers an in-depth experience of one of
Australia's most awe-inspiring landscapes. Departing from your Alice Springs
accommodation in the early morning, you'll travel through the majestic ranges,
stopping at historic sites, gorges, and waterholes. Your guide will provide
insightful commentary as you marvel at the towering red cliffs glowing under
the desert sun.


Throughout the day, you'll enjoy leisurely walks at stunning locations like
Simpsons Gap and Standley Chasm, where you’ll stop for morning tea. Visit the
ancient Ochre Pits, a sacred site for the local Indigenous people, before
heading to Ormiston Gorge for a delicious sit-down lunch. In the warmer
months, don’t miss the opportunity to take a refreshing swim in the pristine
waters of Ellery Creek Big Hole.


The day culminates with the return journey to Alice Springs, where you'll
witness the West MacDonnell Ranges transform into a palette of brilliant
oranges and reds at sunset, a perfect end to a memorable outback adventure.

Itinerary

  • Your guide will collect you from outside your Alice Springs accommodation. You’ll see spectacular outback scenery and have ample photo opportunities as we travel along the magnificent West MacDonnell Ranges, stopping at historic sites.

  • Enjoy beautiful walks at Simpsons Gap, Standley Chasm (for morning tea), and the Ochre Pits.

  • The next stop is at Ormiston Gorge for a sit-down lunch. On the way back to Alice Springs, we stop to spend time at Ellery Creek Big Hole. This waterhole is one of Central Australia’s most pristine, so don’t forget your swimmers in the warmer months!

  • The panoramic landscapes of the West MacDonnell Ranges are extraordinary for their immensity and the spectacular array of sunburnt oranges, maroons and purples on display. In the winter months, these mighty ranges light up in brilliant oranges and reds at sunset on the return journey to Alice Springs.

Emu Run Experience reserves the right to cancel a Tour, Transfer or Private Charter at any time before departure and may cancel a trip due to terrorism, natural disasters, weather concerns, political instability, pandemic/epidemic or other external events it is not viable to operate the Tour, Transfer or Private Charter in discretion
In circumstances where the cancellation is due to external events outside reasonable control, refunds will be less any unrecoverable costs already incurred for the customer
Emu Run Experience is not responsible for any incidental expenses incurred as a result of cancellation of a Tour
A Tour, Transfer or Private Charter will not proceed unless the minimum number of quests required by Emu Run Experience is confirmed. Customers will be notified as soon as possible or at least 24 hours prior to the tour
Smoking is not permitted on the vehicle or throughout the Tour/Transfer/Private Charter at any location where smoking is prohibited
Anti-social behaviour and intoxication creating disturbance to other guests or the Emu Run Experience driver/guide will not be tolerated and the Customer may be evicted at the discretion of the driver/guide
If guest choose to leave the Tour/Transfer/Private Charter at any time before arriving at the final drop off point, guest must inform the Emu Run Experience driver/guide before departing. Transport and other costs from an early departure are at a cost to guest, not Emu Run Experience
No changes can be made to the itinerary once the Tour, Transfer or Private Charter has departed
Emu Run Experience reserves the right to change the departure point or time, up until 24 hours before the departure time. Emu Run Experience will notify guest via email of the changes and specify the new location and time to meet
