You will be picked up from your hotel and taken to the embarkation point. Varanasi will present itself from a different angle viewed from the boat. You will glimpse glittering temples, hear the sound of sacred bells and the chant of priests. As you float down the river, you will pass the bathing ghats, where thousands of pilgrims immerse themselves in the holy water of the Ganges. Take note of the burning ghats, where cremations are performed. Varanasi is so important to Hindus that many, able to afford it, will come here to die and be cremated. The boat ride will be followed by a walking tour of the old city. Walk through the courtyards of silk weavers, who have been hand-weaving the beautiful and intricately designed Silk saris for generations in their homes. Your guide will accompany you through alleys and explore with you old houses and local markets, which have been doing business here for centuries.
