The Okuhida Marugoto Value Ticket (2-Day Plan) via Pelago is an absolute powerhouse for travelers based in Takayama, offering incredible cost savings that essentially make the world-class Shinhotaka Ropeway experience "pay for itself" through included transit. The booking process via Pelago is seamless and rewarding for mile-collectors, though the experience could be further modernized by eliminating the need to exchange digital vouchers for paper tickets at the Nohi Bus Center. To truly maximize the value, travelers should leverage the unlimited bus hops to visit the serene Hirayu Onsen and the Hida Great Limestone Cave, rather than just rushing to the summit. For an even better experience, the operators could improve on-site signage for the included food and shopping vouchers, but even as it stands, this pass is the most efficient and budget-friendly way to witness the breathtaking "Sea of Clouds" in the Japanese Alps.
Beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. Easy comfortable bus ride about 1.5h there and 1hr express back. Ropeway takes about 30 minutes (2 different ropeways), but there's usually a long line so queue a bit before you actually want to leave. I ending up waiting in line 30min and missing a bus so had to hang out another 1h for the bus to leave, and was the last person on the next bus. Woulda had to wait another hour.
