One of the most curious features of the Dingle Peninsula are the Fahan Beehive Huts. These drystone corbelled Iron age huts derive their name from the unique shape of the building. The Fahan group are comprised of 19 subterrain and 18 standing clochans (beehive huts). Our guides will lead you through the inscribed stones, sculptured crosses, and earth ring forts. Kilmalkedar is an early Norman ecclesiastical site and National Monument. The surviving church building was constructed in the mid-12th century then extended around 1200AD. The grounds include the corbelled Hiberno-Romanesque church building, an alphabet stone, an ancient sundial, bullauns, and a Promise stone.
