Arignar Anna Zoological Gardens is India’s first public Zoo located in Vandalur. Spread over 600 acres this zoo is also the largest in India. There are more than 1500 wild species including 46 from the endangered list. Some of the highlights of this tour are the Butterfly House, a walk through Aviary, a Serpentarium, a Primate House and the World of Nocturnal Animals. Crocodile Bank (2 hours) The wildlife trail then takes you to Chennai Crocodile Bank. Set up by the renowned conservationist, Romulus Whitaker, it is an amazing experience. The park is home to more than 2 500 reptiles including Jaws III, its most famous resident and one of India’s largest saltwater crocodiles. It is the biggest crocodile sanctuary in India. It has been successful in breeding over 5 000 crocodiles and alligators that represent 14 of the 23 existing species native to India.
