Highlights

The trekking combines upriver travel, jungle trekking, caving the show caves and overnight stay at an Iban longhouse. The trail itself follows the route taken by Kayan headhunting parties who paddled up and trekking to where they launched headhunting raids against the people of the Limbang area. Headhunter’s Trail can also be done in reverse, starting from Limbang and ending up at the Park HQ.

Itinerary

Journey to Camp 5 + Caving

  • Clearwater / Wind Show Caves

    6 hoursAdmission Ticket Included
    Upon arrival Mulu Airport, meet and greet by our friendly representative and after lunch, transfer by longboat to Clearwater cave jetty and caving the Clearwater and Wind show caves. The journey then continues by longboat to Long Litut and jungle trek for 3 hours to Camp 5. Dinner and overnight at Camp 5.

The Trails & Longhouse Overnight

  • Gunung Mulu National Park

    8 hoursAdmission Ticket Free
    Breakfast at Camp 5 and trekking starts from Camp 5 by following the trail to Kuala Terikan, a 4-5 hour trek. The journey then continues with a longboat for 3-4 hours (depending on boat engine and water level) to reach the longhouse in Mendalam River. Overnight at Iban longhouse.

Journey End & Departure

  • Limbang

    5 hoursAdmission Ticket Free
    Breakfast at the longhouse and transfer by longboat down the river to Nanga Medamit, then by road to the town of Limbang. You'll be transferred to Limbang airport for flight back to Miri or next destination in the afternoon.
