1 hoursAdmission Ticket IncludedKing's Palace A reconstruction of the traditional royal residence, the King’s Palace is a beautifully-crafted thatched dwelling shaped like a beehive. In olden times, Nyanza was the heart of Rwanda. According to oral tradition, it was the site of battles and power struggles. For a long time, the monarchy was mobile, moving the court between various locations. When it eventually settled in one place, Nyanza was the obvious choice. The capital of the kingdom had as many as 2,000 inhabitants, and huts built with the same methods as seen here. At the back live a few long-horned Inyambo cattle, descended from the king’s herd, whose keepers carefully tend and sing to them, keeping alive a unique tradition. The elegant cows, derived from the wider Ankole breed, played an important role during ceremonies in honour of the king. They were decorated with rich jewellery, and were taught to listen to a trainer’s songs and follow his movements in a stately parade.

The Canopy Walkway in Nyungwe National Park is a suspended bridge 70m above the great Nyungwe forest. The guided canopy walk is 160m - 200m long and it takes about 2 hours on the suspended bridge
The canopy walk is a guided tour done by persons of 6 years and above. Though a 6-year-old can do the walk, it's advisable that adults always accompany the children. The walk is done all year round, however it's much better and easier in the dry seasons where the walkway is much drier. Dry seasons in Rwanda run from June to September and December to February.
The walk on the canopy walk offers its walkers great views of the great East African region, Lake Kivu, the different sections of the Nyungwe forest as they spot the different animals, birds, insects, reptiles, and amphibians that live in the forest.

At Uwinka Reception centre visitors are briefed about the walk and assigned a walking guide; this is where you also purchase things like walking sticks, raincoats, etc if you don't have them already because you need them folthe walk. After the session at the Uwinka Reception centre, you then move with a guide to the lgishigishigi trail then 160 m suspended bridge that is adjourned on huge strong trees on top of the ancient biodiverse Nyungwe forest.
