  • Sataplia Cave and Nature Reserve

    The Sataplia Cave is located in the West Georgia. The complex features Dinosaur Park along with small museum preserves of 120-million-year-old fossilized Herbivorous and Raptor dinosaur footprints of different epochs and of course, the lightened-up cave full of eye-catching stalactites and stalagmites which culminates in an underground river. The reserve is surrounded by tall and thick, Colchis forest and has a couple of panoramic lookout points with a glass floor. The main track is an easy hike.

    Motsameta Monastery is located in river Tskaltsitela gorge in West Georgia, near city Kutaisi. Monastic complex integrates: Motsameta Church, a two-storey bell tower, ruins of the defensive towers, stone wall. Motsameta church is a cross-dome structure, built in the 11th century, where the remains of the martyrs are rested. Monastery is situated on an elevated cliff, surrounded by the curve of the river Tskaltsitela and beautiful forests that offer picturesque views from the site.

The Gelati monastery, one of the largest medieval Orthodox monasteries, was also a centre of science and education and the Academy it housed was one of the most important centres of culture in ancient Georgia.

The cathedral of Bagrati was built to commemorate the unification of Georgia by King Bagrat III. One of the most beloved Georgian kings, David IV the Builder, was crowned here in the 12th century. If you plan to travel to Georgia and are going to Kutaisi, you should not miss visiting this unique place, which has hundreds of years of history.
