This square is the oldest urban landmark in the city, because around it “Santa Ana de los Ríos de Cuenca” was founded in 1557 by Gil Ramírez Davalos.

The green area was recovered, maintaining the existing trees and implementing low ornamental vegetation. The athletic track was rebuilt with a suitable platform. New buildings were built for the Municipal Planetarium and the Marching school.
