Kazimierz is one of the oldest districts of the royal city, once an independent settlement, located behind the no longer existing branch of the Vistula. First of all, it is a place known for the coexistence and interpenetration of two cultures over the centuries - Christian and Jewish. During the war, there was a Jewish ghetto in Podgórze, the traces of which can be found to this day.

Although it is associated with the name of the German entrepreneur Oskar Shindler, who saved many Jews by employing them in his factory, the main topic of visiting the museum is the fate of Krakow and its inhabitants during the Nazi occupation.
