함피 정보
Hampi is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the state of Karnataka, India. It is known for its ancient ruins, temples, and stunning landscape along the Tungabhadra River. The currency used in Hampi is the Indian Rupee. Visitors can explore the intricate carvings and architecture of the Virupaksha Temple, witness the sunset from the Hemakuta Hill, and visit the Royal Enclosure and Lotus Mahal.
When to visit
The best time to visit Hampi is during the winter months from October to March when the weather is pleasant and ideal for exploring the outdoor attractions. The summer months from April to June can be extremely hot with temperatures soaring, making it less favorable for sightseeing. Monsoon season from July to September brings heavy rainfall, which can disrupt travel plans and outdoor activities.
Getting around
Getting around Hampi is mainly done on foot, as the ruins and temples are scattered across the landscape. Visitors can also rent bicycles or scooters to explore the area at their own pace. Auto-rickshaws and taxis are available for longer distances or to reach sites located outside the main Hampi Bazaar area. Boat rides are also offered along the Tungabhadra River for a different perspective of the ruins.
Traveller tips
Wear comfortable footwear as you will be doing a lot of walking on uneven terrain. Carry sufficient water and stay hydrated, especially during the hot summer months. Respect the local customs and traditions when visiting temples and sacred sites. Bargain when shopping at the local markets for souvenirs and handicrafts. Be cautious of monkeys in the area, as they can be mischievous and snatch food or belongings. Try the local South Indian cuisine, such as dosas, idlis, and filter coffee for an authentic culinary experience.
