Overview Chinese painting is one of the oldest continuous artistic traditions in the world. Painting in the traditional style is known today in Chinese as guóhuà, meaning "national" or "native painting", as opposed to Western styles of art. Traditional painting involves essentially the same techniques as calligraphy and is done with a brush dipped in black ink or coloured pigments. Joining in the experience, you will personally experience how to paint in the very traditional Chinese way in a quiet and undisturbed classroom. The unique presentation of Chinese painting is closely related with the tools and materials used. The tools used in Chinese calligraphy and painting, also collectively called the "four treasures of the study" are brush, ink, paper and ink stone.
