Built at the beginning of the 16th century, the medieval Serbian Orthodox Monastery Tvrdoš, dedicated to the Rising of the Holy Mother of God, still represents the center of Orthodox Christianity of the region. Thanks to the high-quality soil and flat terrain, extensive vineyards have been grown ever since, which is why the monastery is also known for its wine, carefully preserved in the old stone basement dating back to the 15th century.
