Neuschwanstein castle is beautiful but currently suffering from over tourism. Huge bus tours dominate the landscape with crowds and lines everywhere.     When time and weather permit we LOVE to make a stop at the local rodelbahn (summer bobsled track) for a few runs! This is an option for your afternoon. Time doesn‘t permit for the Rodelbahn, Oberammergau and the Ettal monastery.
